The Welcome Aboard Brief is mandatory for all SOFA status personnel aged 16 and older, including those on TAD or UDP orders for 30 days or more. This brief is an orientation to life aboard MCAS Iwakuni, and in Iwakuni, Japan. This brief occurs over two days.

Schedule

  • Monday - Day 1: 7:30 AM - 12:30 PM
    Command brief, Support Entities, Station Chaplain, CI Awareness, SJA/SOFA Brief, Station Safety, EEP training, Family Housing/Environmental Program, PMO Pass & Registration, Medical/Dental, Culture Awareness, and more.
     
  • Tuesday - Day 2: 10 AM - 12:45 PM 
    Family Readiness, Library, Education/Career opportunities, VA, Behavioral Health/Responsible Drinking, Business Operations, Semper Fit, Family Care Programs, EFMP, MCCS HR, and more.
    SOFA Test 2-4 PM (Optional)

Notes

  • Proper civilian attire is permitted and encouraged to be worn by all attendees.
  • Childcare is available through the CDC and SAC on a first-come, first-served basis.
    • Registration is required at CDC and SAC before attending the Welcome Aboard.
    • Please download and fill out the Child & Youth Programs Special Event Childcare form
    • Please email the special events packet along with immunization and confirmation of allergies to the SAC or CDC along with the date of the welcome aboard that the family is attending.
    • Please check in with CDC/SAC on the day of attendance.
